“I was concerned that Penn-Trafford High School might not realize we have a men’s lacrosse team since we’ve been away for so long,” said P-T’s head coach Charlie Hach. “It’s good to finally have a home game.”

The Warriors (2-2, 1-1) knocked down the Trinity Area Hillers (0-2, 0-1), claiming their first Section 1-2A victory of the season. P-T had five-point bookend quarters and finished the game 14-3.
Gavin Weaver led the team with 6 goals, including three consecutive points in the fourth quarter.
“He’s a captain. He’s a leader. The offense definitely clicks better– it’s not just his scoring– when he’s in there,” Hach said of Weaver.
Seniors Eli Habura, Blake Branthoover and Weaver are the Warriors’ team captains. Hach also noted the strong leadership of Carter Vandrak and both goalies this season.
Vandrak netted the first goal less than 30 seconds into the game, foreshadowing the commanding victory. Weaver scored another two minutes later, and by the end of the first quarter, P-T led 5-0. By halftime, P-T retained their lead, 8-1.

“Overall, I’m happy with the outcome. We have to correct some things defensively and catch better… we can’t make those mistakes against a better team,” Hach said.
Both the Warriors and Hillers added another tally to the score in the third quarter, pushing the score to 9-2.
The Warriors netted another five goals to finish off the final quarter.
Throughout the course of the game, sophomore Josh Maga won 13 faceoffs and scored three goals. Sophomore Carter Zeminski also scored, and Habura added two more.
Coincidentally, the 14-3 score was the exact same as last year’s P-T vs. Trinity game, which also secured P-T’s first section victory of the season.

“Everybody was moving the ball around and shots were going. It was a good game today,” Vandrak said. “It’s great to see that and hopefully we’re ready for Thursday against Shaler.”
The Warriors will play their next game at home against Shaler Area on March 27.
