Behavioral Science teacher Derek Cuthbert brought in a speaker to inform students about sensory deprivation and float therapy.
Float therapy is a tool that can be used for sensory deprivation, to cause individuals to relax. They fill a small pool with saltwater for buoyancy, shut off the lights and silence noises in the surrounding area. There are many psychological benefits, such as stress reduction, spine decompression, and focus.
Cuthbert made it very clear that he would bring the speaker back for any future classes, saying that the speaker was willing to come back. The speaker was specific and knew what he was talking about. He had answers to every question asked.
“He talked the talk and walked the walk,” Cuthbert said.
Cuthbert and many of his students said that they would try float therapy and go more than once, which the speaker recommended and informed that it was essential to get the full worth of the experience and effects.
