After production being delayed due to COVID-19, “Wicked” is finally coming to theaters. The movie is an adaptation of the Broadway musical, set to come out Nov. 22.
The director Jon M. Chu made this version of the movie to show the friendship that has started between Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba Thropp. The storyline follows Elphaba’s studies at Shiz University, where she eventually discovers her destiny as the Wicked Witch of the West.
The cast consists of Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Ariana Grande-Butera as Glinda, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Ethan Staler as Boq, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard, Keala Settle as Miss Coddle and Bronwyn James as ShenShen.
The film will feature at least two new songs: “The Wizard and I,” previously performed by Grande on NBC, and “I Couldn’t Be Happier,” showcased by Erivo during PBS’s “Wicked In Concert.” This movie is said to be a spin-off of the first movie but a better version.
