Green Day entertains Pittsburgh and P-T concertgoers

Popular rock band Green Day came to PNC Park in Pittsburgh on Sept. 1 for their Saviors Tour. The concert featured music from the band’s “Dookie” and “American Idiot” albums, as well as some covers of other songs.

The concert’s opening act was The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas. Each group contributed to the event’s atmosphere, showcasing their diverse styles to the audience. Penn-Trafford attendees described their experiences at the concert.

Sophomore Charlie Synder went to the concert and stated that his favorite part of it was when the band brought fans up onto the stage.

     “It was awesome,” Synder said.

2024 P-T alumnus Connor Lloyd also witnessed the concert. He said that a memorable moment was when a fan threw a Pittsburgh Pirates hat onto the stage, noting that a Billie Joe Armstrong wore it while singing “Basket Case.”

Not only did they play music, but a few costumed performers, including a pink bunny, helped energize the crowd before the show began.

The concert concluded with the song  “Good Riddance(Time of Your Life)” as Armstrong and his bandmates, including Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt, bid farewell to Pittsburgh.
