Students in the Introduction to Administration and Management classes are designing and selling T-shirts for Damar Hamilin’s Chasing M’s Foundation as part of their annual charity fundraising project.
Each class is in charge of running a small company and selling their shirts. Out of the three classes, 74 students in total are a part of this effort.
The funds raised from this project are donated to a new charity each year, chosen by Kim Stefkovich, Introduction to Administration and Management and Introduction to Business teacher. This year the money is going to the Chasing M’s Foundation.
The project began when Stefkovich started teaching at Penn-Trafford. In her first year, she was told she did not need to use a book to teach, which inspired her to create this project.
Each year, students sell approximately 3,000 shirts per class. Within the past 18 years, there have been over $120,000 donated to local charities.
Throughout the year, the classes learn lessons that are useful tools to this project. By doing this project, students learn how leadership plays a role in running a business.
The project was sponsored by Turner’s, Multi Metal, Jeannette Steel, Oakmont Assets, Oakmont Bakery, Allegheny Destruction, Cars by Dave, Rodan & Fields, The Evans Network of Companies, ArTECH Group, Energy Swing, Clista Electric and Seyler & Berkebile.
The items sold this year can cost anywhere from $14 to $45. Additionally, there are multiple styles of shirts, including T-shirts, long sleeves, crewnecks and hoodies. There are three different designs, one per class, which are each sold on separate websites.
If you would like to support P-T students while also donating to charity, you can order from one of their websites, pttriumph.itemorder.com, ptthreerivers.itemorder.com, or ptdamarstrong.itemorder.com. The order deadline is April 1 at 11:59 p.m.
