MCU’s ‘Loki’ returns with a second season

Episodes of “Loki” will release onto Disney+ every Thursday from Oct. 5 until Nov. 9.

The devilishly charming God of Mischief is back for the second season of Marvel’s “Loki.” Tom Hiddleston returned as the titular role. This season will be included in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I’m excited to be back, back in the TVA,” Hiddleston stated in a Marvel featurette. “Season Two is about Loki understanding himself.”

Several other actors from Season One also returned: Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, Owen Wilson as Mobius, Gugu Mbatha Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, Eugene Cordero as Casey and Tara Strong as Miss Minutes. Additionally, Jonathan Majors will be in approximately three of the episodes as Victor Timely, a variant of Kang the Conqueror.

“Everything is stepped up a gear,” Martino stated in the featurette. “The stakes are huge.”

The first season set up the MCU’s expedition into the multiverse; subsequent films directly impacted by the events of Season One were “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness” and “Ant-Man: Quantumania.” The first 10 minutes of the new season were shown at this year’s D23 Expo; Season Two continues right from where the first season left off.

Season Two of “Loki” will include Loki discovering what it means to be a hero.

“Loki has always been a villain. What we want to explore is also Loki finding what heroism really looks like,” Kevin R. Wright, the show’s new producer, stated. “Rest assured, our Loki will be with our Mobius, and they will be dealing with the consequences of the first season.”

New actors joining the cast of “Loki” include Kate Dickie, Rafael Casal, Liz Carr and Ke Huy Quan – Quan’s character, named “O.B.” has been featured in some of the trailers.

“I’ve been a fan of the Marvel Universe for a long time,” Quan said. “I’m so grateful to be a part of this amazing series.”

The first episode premiered on Disney+ on Oct. 5. The season will run for six episodes, which will be individually released every Thursday at 9 p.m.
