The hit word game Wordle has found massive success recently.
For those unaware, Wordle is a game where the goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word within six guesses.
The game gives players information based upon the letters of their guesses. Black means the letter is not present, yellow means the letter is present but not in the right place and green means the letter is present and in the correct position.
Due to its massive popularity, many similar games have cropped up that build upon or modify the basic mechanics of Wordle.
Absurdle – Created by coder qntm, Absurdle is similar to Wordle with two big twists. First, players have infinite guesses. And, instead of picking a secret word at the beginning, Absurdle considers its entire list of words and conforms to players’ guesses. This essentially means that the game is actively trying to give players as little information as possible by widening the possible list of answers as much as it can.
Bardle – Bardle is, simply put, a clone of Wordle themed around Shakespeare and his works. The wordlist consists of Shakespeare characters, famous quotes, and general theater terminology. Everything else, such as the five letter word length and six guesses, is identical to classic Wordle.
Quordle – This entry is only for those looking for a challenge. Quordle is as the name implies, a set of four Wordle puzzles. Players must solve all four of these puzzles at the same time. The game allows nine guesses, but this does not offset the newly added difficulty. Completing the daily Quordle requires strategy and planning that is not necessary in the original Wordle.
