Inaugural Esports season proves successful

Expectations did not necessarily need to be high for the Penn-Trafford Esports team. With it being their first season, most people did not know what to expect.

This being the case, the team just wrapped up their season in successful fashion competing in a state league in which they rank No. 8 overall.

They spent their time in leagues of multiple sizes. The Rocket League team was in fall and spring tournaments that included teams from all over the country. The team also got a chance to compete in a league event run by the Esports Company.

The team made it all the way to the championship held at Saint Francis University. Although they did not come out victorious, multiple players on the team received scholarship offers to compete at the Division I Esports level there.

Head coach John Carlisle had nothing but positivity in regards to the first season.

“The inaugural season of Esports at Penn-Trafford was absolutely awesome. I could not be more proud of the progress that was made throughout our first year.”

Despite unknown expectations, the Esports team finishes their first season with upward trajectory.

As for the outlook for next season, the team is looking to continue their rapid expansion with the possibility of Valorant and Super Smash Brothers teams. These would be additions to the Overwatch and Rocket league teams that the program already fields.

Anyone interested in the program should contact Carlisle or business teacher Dennis Kosoglow.
