For many students and teachers, coffee is a need to get them through the school year. Whether you just need the energy, or a quiet place to unwind, read, write, or even study coffee shops offer good opportunities for those who are attending school. In my experience, sipping on my favorite coffee orders gave me enough energy to get through those last minute assignments, study sessions, and late nights. So, for those of you who are looking for new coffee places, I have put together a comprehensive list of unique cafes that you should try.
1. Sweet Buzz Bean & Bistro
Closest to Penn-Trafford HIgh School, Sweet buzz in Harrison City, has not only many drink options, but also great food. With many cozy indoor seating options, you will feel right at home. Also, they have made efforts during these times to open up their outdoor seating with patio heaters, making it a great place to gather and consult with peers. They are open from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. While everything is delicious my personal favorites are the mango smoothies, and caramel lattes.
2. The White Rabbit Cafe and Patisserie
Located at 13 N Main St, Greensburg, The White Rabbit Cafe and Patisserie offers so many great specialty drinks, and amazing patisseries that will make your mouth water. This cafe contains a lot of seating options and cute wall decor that gives it a fun atmosphere. Open Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. and closed Sunday, it is one of my favorite places to meet up with a friend, and study over a matcha latte. Not to mention the variety of options available, even if you aren’t a coffee drinker, they have many other non-coffee handcrafted drinks.
3. Candy’s Corner
At 435 Main St, Irwin, Candy’s Corner can be found open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m., Sundays from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m , and closed on Mondays. This cafe gives more of a restaurant feel to it, as there are not as many coffee options compared to other cafes. However the food is amazing, especially all the desserts they offer. Even though there were not as many coffee options there was a great variety of food. I would recommend this place if you are tired or hungry, and need some energy to get you through.
4. Dv8 Espresso Bar & Gallery
Located at 208 S Pennsylvania Ave, Greensburg, Dv8 Espresso Bar & Gallery provides many great coffee options, along with other specialty drinks. But what is most interesting about this cafe is the art show you get to experience as soon as you walk into the door. This cafe supports our local artisans and offers a mixture of art in different forms. If you want to spice up your study location, you should go to this cafe and order one of the favorite specialty drinks called the Mexican Volcano. They are open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., and closed on Sundays. This is a great place to get a good boost of energy and a taste of art at the same time.
5. Dunkin Donuts
This popular coffee shop can be found locally in Irwin, Jeannette, Greensburg, and Murrysville. Open Sunday through Saturday 5 a.m. – 9 p.m., Dunkin Donuts offers many different coffee options, refreshers, teas, and breakfast foods. It is easy and convenient to go to, and it contains a drive through if you would like to quickly pick up a coffee instead of sitting down. Dunkin Donuts also offers a way to receive awards through its app, and once 200 points are earned you can receive a free beverage. I would recommend it if you feel like you need some energy, but don’t want to spend a lot of time or money.
6. Starbucks
Like Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks is another popular one that can be found in Murrysville, Greensburg, Irwin, and almost every target. Hours may vary depending on location, but majority are open from at least 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. Starbucks offers a variety of coffee drinks in different forms, refreshers, teas, and even food options. The price is a bit expensive for the amount you are getting, but like Donkin Donuts they offer rewards on their app. I personally love Starbucks frappuccinos, and the amount of different flavor options they have. Starbucks also has a drive through if you are in more of a rush, but inside there is a calming atmosphere to get work done. This is a great place to meet up with friends and work together over your favorite drinks!
