Halftime show rocks nation with representation

The 2020 Super Bowl halftime show raised the bar with a stellar performance from Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.

Last year’s Maroon 5 performance with features ranging from Travis Scott all the way to Spongebob, did not blend well either style-wise or in execution.

Fortunately for this year’s two headliners, their shared Latina background allowed for a harmonious setlist, choreography, costuming and performance.

With featured artists including J Balvin and Bad Bunny, the two women pulled all the stops when it came to producing an all-out Latin American set to represent during an All-American sport.

The setlist allowed all of the artists involved to showcase what they were made of.  With original songs such as “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Get on the Floor,” the two also spotlight other Latin American artists in singing songs like “I Like it.”

Every detail was taken into account to make the two shine — literally.  Shakira began her portion of the show in a sparkly red bodysuit with matching thigh-highs transitioning into a gold bodysuit, and Lopez wore variants of silver, glimmering bodysuits.

The outfits, both loud and bold, complemented the beltresses nicely as they powered through song after song with confident and consistently good vocals.

All of that in mind, no feat could have been more boisterous than the Latinas bringing out their speciality:  dance.

Shakira and Lopez’s shared love of Latin American dance was prominent from variants of pole dancing to heavily-choreographed tangos and company hip-hop routines.

As 43 and 50 year olds, the two proved that age was no setback in stopping them from delivering a high-energy performance for many to enjoy.

Additionally, Shakira displayed another range of her talents as she took to the stage with her guitar and played set drum for some of Lopez’s performances.

Their show took deeper meanings as they showcased the Puerto Rican flag in response to an earthquake and made the women’s symbol out of the young girls singing for “Let’s Get Loud.”

This year’s halftime show provided as a bold statement and entertaining performance that showcased the pique amount of talent from each individual involved.
