A project designed ‘for the kids’

Senior Paige Kalik wanted to do something special for her senior project, so as part of Mini-THON at Penn-Trafford, she decided to invite kids to paint before the dance on Feb. 2.

This was significant for the kids and students involved in Mini-THON, and it included the community in benefitting the Four Diamonds Organization, which helps kids going through cancer.

“The kids painted pictures on little wood blocks to be donated to Four Diamonds,” Kalik said. “They also played cornhole and dodgeball.”

The main goal of the event was to have some paintings to donate to kids who are not able to take part in activities as normal kids can, Kalik said.

Kalik organized the event herself, but she had help from the Mini-THON leaders. She put together a letter to take around to the schools which informed students and parents of the event.

Kalik gathered materials after she saw how many kids were coming.

Kalik added she wanted to get involved in Mini-THON because cancer had a big impact on her life, and she wanted to try to make a difference in the world, even if it was small.

“The event was a success, and I had about 35 kids come, ranging from kindergarten to sixth grade,” she said.

Kalik added that overall it was a really great experience, and she hopes someone can take over this event for Mini-THON next year.
