P-T talks Thanksgiving

Just around the corner, families will gather and feast for Thanksgiving.    Most families in the United States take advantage of the Thanksgiving holiday as a time to gather with relatives that they may not typically see. Traditions vary from watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade, playing football, fasting all day in anticipation of the big meal and feasting until their stomachs are full.

Of the 77 responses received from a survey conducted amongst P-T students, most people said that gathering with their family and enjoying a meal is their favorite tradition of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Fifty-nine percent of those surveyed included that spending time with their family is their favorite part of the day.

Sophomore Brooke Cleland said, “We always go to my grandma’s house and spend the day down there. We eat, and always have many desserts.”

Over 97 percent of respondents said their meal is the typical turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing, along with other traditional dishes.

P-T staff members Marty Corna and Lisa Popovich, amongst 30 others, said their favorite tradition is reflecting upon their blessings and sharing what they are thankful for before their meals.

Senior Dallys Clark said, “Waking up early to watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade, not eating all day in anticipation of dinner, and having some of the best home cooked food of the year” is her favorite part. She added, “The whole day is great.”

Regardless of what the best part of Thanksgiving is argued to be, P-T students enjoy the day with their own traditions.
