The school year is rolling, and already it is that time for students to plan their schedule for next year.
Many of the younger students are being guided by older siblings and friends to help put their schedule together. Some of them may be changing their schedules based on what the older students have to say.
Freshman Bobby Lane said, “Upperclassmen have changed my perception on some classes.” Lane said has been guided by his older sister and her friends on which classes are the do’s and don’ts.
Not everyone has chosen their classes based on upperclassmen claims about the courses. Freshman Jeana Bartholomew said she has decided to take classes that she thought would suit her best.
“I chose what classes to take based on what I want to be when I am older,” said Bartholomew, who added she is really looking forward to her Preschool class next year.
Freshman Bella Long also is trying to take courses that will set her up for a bright future with the help of some older kids who have “told me about actual experiences from the class.”
Long said, “I would rather take classes that I am interested in than the ones people say are easier.”
Older students are not the only ones helping the underclassmen pick their future courses. Guidance counselors are still the biggest advocates in setting up younger students. Lane said that “Mr. Martin has been a huge help in the process as well.”
Without the guidance of counselors and upperclassmen, the underclassmen would have a more difficult time finding classes that would best suit them.
