The Warrior’s Maddie Hice tries on the L’oreal “Infallible Paints” collection in 342 DIY Red.

Winter in Penn-Trafford can be pretty drab, but there are ways to spice it up. The Warrior wanted to add a touch of color to P-T, so they did just that with a little lipstick.

What lipstick, liquid lipstick in particular, could get the job done while keeping lips moisturized, maintain color all day long, and still have a nice texture

We tried four liquid lipsticks each from a different brand: L’oreal Paris’ “Infallible Paints” collection in 324 DIY Red, Wet n’ Wild’s “Megalast Liquid Catsuit” collection in 924B Rebel Rose, NYX’s “Lingerie” collection in Exotic and Maybelline’s “Color Jolt” collection in 35 Berry Naughty.

The first lipstick tried was from the L’oreal Paris “Infallible Paints” collection in the color 324 DIY Red.

Upon first opening the tube, the product actually smelled like swedish fish, which automatically threw some extra points in its way.

It was creamy when applying, but it never really seemed to dry. It was not necessarily the most moisturizing lipstick, but it was moisturizing enough that it did not dry out the lips or feel uncomfortable. The pigment was extremely strong and turned out to be brighter and a bit more orange than the packaging led to believe.

The final test was the eating test. We took a bite out of a granola bars to see if any product was left behind on the bar, and with this product, there was. This was not really surprising considering it never really dried.

We would recommend this product, but to be cautious when wearing it. The color was beautiful, but it never seemed to dry so it is clear how this can become hazardous quickly.

The L’oreal “Infallible Paints” collection 324 DIY Red comes in this regular packaging.

The second lipstick was from Wet n’ Wild and cruelty free. It was a matte liquid lipstick from the “megalast Liquid Catsuit” collection.

The lip product brushed on smoothly, and it was fairly easy to apply it evenly with one stroke. However, it was sticky until it dried and when it did dry it felt tight, so the product was not moisturizing in the least.

As for color, the shade appeared darker applied than in the tube. The lipstick appeared more pink in the bottle, but when it was put on it dried to a dark pink/purple color. The color was pretty; it gave the perfect pop of color while still looking natural.

What was really awesome was that it stayed all day long. The color lasted strongly through lunch, and we only had to reapply a tiny bit once throughout the whole day.

Overall, we highly recommend this lip product. It was long lasting and had a nice, natural color. It was not moisturizing, but that was expected since it was matte.

The third product tried was from the NYX “Lingerie” Matte collection and was in the color “Exotic.” This color looked like a corally dark red from the bottle but actually turned out a brick red on the lips.

The pigment was what one would expect. Not super strong like the L’Oreal, but it was sheer enough that another coat applied would not hurt.

When applying, it was more lip drying than usual which made it a little tight when the product itself completely dried. We could definitely tell that we were wearing something, but this feature did not make it particularly uncomfortable to wear. It actually became more comfortable the longer it was worn, but it was obvious it was drying because the wrinkle lines of the lip became more obvious.

No product came off on the granola bar eating test. This was a victory considering most lip products will come off on anything near the mouth.

However, we would not recommend this product. The color was pretty and nothing came off in the eating test, but it was too drying, even for a matte lipstick. Instead, we would recommend the other matte lipstick tried, Wet n’ Wild’s Catsuit.

Lastly, the Maybelline “Color Jolt” collection was put to the test. The shade was 35 Berry Naughty.

This product was very moisturizing. It felt soft, smooth and the overall feel was very comfortable. The stayability, however, lacked. It came off easily, which makes sense because the lip paint was so moisturizing. Eating was near impossible, and the fear of messing up this lipstick look was constantly in the back of our minds.

The color was a pink, berry color with a hint of purple, and it dried slightly lighter than it looked in the packaging. Another coat of this product amps up the color, so if a darker pigment is the goal, sorry it is only going to get brighter.

This product was a nice color; however, it did not stay on which is why we would not recommend. Stayability is crucial, and it was not up to par.

Through trial and error, the Warrior found some great lip products to give winter’s gray hues a touch of color. Winter does not have be drab; make it fab.
