The Penn-Trafford community had the opportunity to watch and sing along to the holiday favorite “White Christmas” on Dec. 9,.
Staff member Jen Haberberger organized the show.
Haberberger said the idea was not hers. “School board member Jim Matarazzo went to an event similar to this in Chicago with his son.” He convinced Dr. Harris to bring the show to P-T.
That is where the idea came from, and Steve Vinton, Lisa Popovich and Jen Haberberger were put in charge of the operation. Student council also “MC’d the event,” CAP members ushered and drama guild members acted as carolers.
The doors opened at 6:30 p.m. and students provided entertainment for the audience before the movie began to show. Aside from singing and being merry, the audience also was informed on different things that have been going on in P-T throughout the fall up to the present.
The highlight of the night was the arrival of Santa. He came rolling in with the snow machine shooting out from the ceiling.
The community’s movie IQ was also put to the test with some trivia questions about the movie “White Christmas.” Like all great shows, there was an intermission with some free cookies and beverages.
Haberberger said, “No we didn’t get the turnout we had hoped, but I think any time with a first event it’s hard to get the word out, but hopefully the people that were there will tell everyone how much fun they had.”
According to Haberberger there is a possibility of another sing-along next year.
