Fall is rolling around again which means that horror lovers rejoice over cult classic films, haunted houses and the start of the much anticipated season 6 of “American Horror Story.” The confusion of a new Roanoke theme along with mixed emotions on the new season marks a new beginning for the beloved horror story.

“We wanted to [create a] different experience for the fans this year,” creator Ryan Murphy said to Vanity Fair Magazine. He decided to hide any and all details from the season so the wait would be more mysterious.

“American Horror Story” debuted a Roanoke theme a few weeks back as fans around the world watched, both in confusion and in horror.

Twitter user @benadryl explained her confusion on Twitter during the premiere.

“Only 10 minutes left of #AHS6 and I still don’t know what this season is really about.”

Though many users loved the premier and the completely unexpected idea of having a documentary, others did not take the change well, stating that it was not like “American Horror Story” should be.

Another twitter user @drivingmewild said “I didn’t ask for a TLC documentary I asked for ‘American Horror Story.’”

The season is focused on a ‘real life’ paranormal story narrated by Lily Rabe and André Holland and reenacted by Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr.

It follows the story of a couple, Shelby and Matt Miller, and their experiences with the ghostly colony of Roanoke. Not focused on jump scares, the new season has ties in relations to past seasons and is more focused on building background stories.

Though the sixth season holds new experiences and scares, it may remind its viewers of previous seasons as they see their favorite characters return to the screen.

To watch the sixth season of “American Horror Story,” tune into FX on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m.
